ABOUT THE SOUL AND OTHER SMALL THINGS

In 1977 aboard the Voyager space shuttle greetings in various languages and selected pieces of music, including a performance by Bulgarian folklore singer Valya Balkanska, were launched into deep space. I then started wondering what would happen, if a bunch of extraterrestrials came to Earth just to hear Valya Balkanska perform live. That was how the idea for this film originated. With the tragic death of Andrzej , our friend and producer, it lost any sense. But then, amidst the hopelessness and the grief, a new idea emerged: the story of Orpheus, who descended into the Kingdom of hades to bring his dear Eurydice back to daylight again.

GOODBYE MAMA

This movie challenges the good mother stereotypes in the patriarchal society, asking questions. How come mothers hurt their own children? How come the society unites itself to violate human dignity? How does an individual survive and what is the price? The story is told freely and the emotion involves us in an experience, where everyone finds either memories of the past or scenes of the present.

IVAN RADOEV – THE POET SHOOTS IN HIS HEART

A film in two parts -  and - about the great Bulgarian playwright and poet Ivan Radoev, who, between the years 1981-1985, answered the questions of literary critic Maria Gareva. The tape recordings of these interviews are among the few preserved authentic confessions of the great Bulgarian author. They are the basis of this film, teeming with exciting archival photographs and film material. The film highlights the moral force of a Bulgarian intellectual, who lived in a time of spiritual and political dictatorship.

RULES OF SINGLE LIFE

A modern mixture of feature, documentary cinema and reality, in which the director films himself and three of his friends documenting their attempts to meet the one true love. On the verge of their 30s each one of them has had love disappointments, and together the four of them try to find the key to the-oneand-only love. The romantic “dramedy” also touches on the immigration theme, as the characters – three Bulgarians and one Macedonian – live in Helsinki, which becomes the scene of their love quest.

FILM DESTINY

His films and the long period of time, in which any filmmaker works, provoke his reflections, visions and analyses of the current spiritual values of the nation. “I often dream episodes and fragments of my films. They arise unexpectedly and in different versions. Various close-ups and strange viewpoints – some characters are replaced with figures borrowed from my own life. Other stories unfold straight in the present. I make an effort to put them down on paper. So, in the course of time, this project was also born...,” said Nikola Korabov.

I AM YOU

Through two unique female personas the film suggests a metaphysical idea of the present as ever recurring, since the temptations, which the human soul faces, are always the same. But any choice can be made only after the experience of the past is passed on and shared with a kindred spirit in the present. Such is the nature of the relationship between Adriana, the femme fatale of 1938, and the innocent Yura of 2008.
