The Bulgarian minority co-production WESTERN – Germany, Bulgaria, Austria, by Valeska Grisebach will compete for the LUX Film prize with BPM (BEATS PER MINUTE), by Robin Campillo – France and the co-production SÁMI BLOOD, by Amanda Kernell – Sweden, Norway, Denmark.
The Bulgarian co-producer of WESTERN is Chouchkov Brothers, the film was shot almost entirely in Bulgaria with Bulgarian non-professional actors.
From October to December WESTERN, BPM and SÁMI BLOOD will become the core of the 2017 LUX FILM DAYS and will be screened in more than 50 cities and several festivals across 28 EU countries. With each film subtitled into the 24 official EU languages, all Europeans will be able to discover these films and identify with the topics they address.
The winner will be announced in Strasbourg on the 15th of November 2017.
