On the 8th of November at the 57th TIFF a meeting was held between directors of film funds and agencies from the region. The aim was to discuss ideas on boosting the cooperation between South Eastern European countries. Based on the fruitful experience of nearly 15 years of cooperation between the countries in the South Eeastern Europe Cinema Network, the representatives from Albania, Bulgaria, FYROM, Greece, Romania and Serbia have found the strong need to discuss ways and means to move forward the collaboration and adapt to the new times.
The issues of co-production and cross-border circulation of national films and possibilities of more coherent support of production and promotion were tackled.
The national film funds’ representatives expressed their strong interest in setting the basis for a common cross-border regional fund in order to respond to the needs and circumstances the film professionals are facing today. Each country will look into the legal and technical details of the implementation of such a multilateral agreement and a follow-up meeting will take place in the near future.
At the afternoon panel professionals of the region discussed with the fund representatives the collaboration and distribution challenges in the area.
