The 14th Sofia Meetings will take place from 16th to 19th March in the framework of Sofia International Film Festival. Sofia Meetings is a creative laboratory that gives the prospective filmmakers the opportunity to present their projects to professional audience and a business platform that gives the producers a chance to realize projects with international funding. About 300 film professionals will participate in this year’s edition.
“Projects presented for the first time at Sofia Meetings are often supported at a later stage by the Bulgarian Film Center and Eurimages. There are numerous successful examples of such productions”, the executive director Kamen Balkanski said at the press-conference of the event.
For the last 3 years the Bulgarian Film Center supported 20 minority co-productions.
Dogs by Bogdan Mirica (France, Romania, Bulgaria, Qatar) premiered at Cannes, King of the Belgians (Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria) by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth premiered at Venice IFF and Requiem for Mrs. J. (Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia) premiered at the Berlinale.
Nine Bulgarian projects have been selected this year at Sofia Meetings, the second project by Ralitza Petrova (Godless) and third project by Konstantin Bojanov (Ave) among them.
Sofia Meetings is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA Programme, Bulgarian National Film Center and Sofia Municipality.
