Shortly after its Bulgarian and international premieres in Varna and Warsaw, Irina triumphed at three major international festivals.
Its screening in the Competition Programme of Minsk International Film Festival was a great success gaining the movie a nomination for the Audience Award.
Irina received the Golden Owl for Best Feature Film Award, Main Competition, 2018 Tirana International Film Festival. The International Jury justified their decision by defining the picture as ‘a strong story about surviving in an unpleasant surrounding through a female character that shows how we can forgive and find hope at the end’.
The award was presented to the film’s producer Stefan Kitanov.
The movie scooped also the Best Actress Award (to Martina Apostolova) and Best First Film Award (to director Nadejda Koseva) at 2018 Cottbus Film Festival, Germany.
