What is the gist of the amendments and their importance to the development of Bulgarian film industry?
Jana Karaivanova said that she was not to speak about Bulgarian film in general, but only about that segment, which deals with the public funding of the national film production. She underscored the two-year delay in amending the Act in its business part, i.e. in harmonising it with the Commission Regulation, which regulates Sate aid across the EU. Since the last amendment to the Commission Regulation, all countries have put it in place on time, and the deadline for Bulgaria expired on 31 December 2017. The amendment failed to be adopted by that time creating difficulties for the administration of the National Film Center. The administration helped by the Ministry of Culture and all the filmmakers succeeded in accomplishing the task in 2018, Mrs Karaivanova said.
