Jana Karaivanova, Director of the Bulgarian National Film Center on the Film Industry Amendment Act

Parliament approved the Film Industry Amendment Act at its second and final reading on Friday to bring Bulgaria’s legislation in compliance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014, which regulates Sate aid for film. The harmonising was delayed by almost a year. As a result, the National Film Center was not entitled to grant aid to previously approved projects and Bulgaria’s film industry could have faced a zero year.
