The film is about Bulgaria’s transition from communism to democracy as seen in the life stories of two people: the once boy-king and former Prime Minster of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his namesake and coeval Simeon Kostianev, professor of geophysics. The stories of the two – Simeon, the boy-king and Simeon K., the farmer’s son, are indicative of the contradictions and agitations of the latest Bulgarian history.
