Dr Lubomir Kanov is a famous Bulgarian psychiatrist and a writer. When Dr Kanov was 33, he was charged with propaganda or campaigning against the communist regime and was jailed for almost two years in the prison in Stara Zagora. After the dossier records were made available in the 1990s, Lubomir Kanov got access to his own record to read for the first time things he had only supposed. Now, Dr. Kanov says he is a two-humped camel with one of the humps being Bulgaria with all the sorrows and joys he has experienced there and the other, his life of a psychiatrist in New York. Now he has forgiven everybody: both the stool pigeons and those, who have testified against him, fearing for their own lives. He has not forgiven only the torturers and the executioners, because, in his opinion, only repentant of their own sins have the right to be forgiven.
