The film reveals the thoughts of a small man, living in the 1980s. He defines himself as a pathetic cad, leading a pathetic intelligent life. His job at a state-run office is to fire choir singers, who are about to retire. The clerk is not happy with this miserable existence, but whatever he does, there is always some early bird who gets his worm. This early bird is his alter ego, his inner voice, which he has always silenced. A psychological drama about the lost meaning, the lovelessness, the paranoia in a frustrated life.

A man buys ten bottles of vodka and heads for the small coastal town of Sozopol, where he used to spend his holidays. He believes that when he drinks out the last bottle of vodka, his life will change. But strange things start happening much earlier. When Hope is gone, Miracle is the last resort.

May 1st or Labour Day, 1986, Ljubljana. Metalworker Peter Zmazek is awarded the “Worker of the Year” title at the Udarnik (Shock-Worker) factory and in addition to that - an apartment from the social housing fund. He is so overwhelmed that he falls into a state of shock and remains in a daze; nobody can help him wake up. Peter ends up in a psychiatric institution, dreaming his dream of communist paradise for ten full years. In the meantime, the state, the political (communist) system and his family fall apart. Peter wakes up the very moment when his former wife Marica marries his best friend Jovo. When Peter shows up at the wedding party, a bitter-sweet comedy of confusions begins. The protagonist confronts a completely different world dominated by modern technologies, suspicious businessmen and newborn politicians. is a bitter comedy about family, friendship, lost ideals and about the power of an individual to beat the system.

21 years ago a 16-year-old Maria ran away to America with her husband’s young brother. Maria’s son, Yannis, a student and amateur photographer becomes involved in a rock group called The Wing of the Fly. When they are not rehearsing he and his friends spend their time picking up girls of all ages, fighting and talking about philosophy. However, Yannis’ carefree lifestyle is soon to come to an end when his mother returns from America. Yannis hates his mother and seeks revenge by breaking into her house and attacking his uncle. He gets through lots of girlfriends and when he finally discovers the love of his life, he strikes out. He becomes more and more alienated from his friends and finally gets resolved to return home alone to his last fatal encounter with his uncle.

6 year old Azad (a Kurd from Iraq) is engaged to Vian, but war separates them. 13 years later he meets her on his way to Europe and falls in love with her, without recognizing she is his fiancee. But Vian thinks he was involved in her father’s murder and does not reveal herself to Azad, obsessed with the desire for revenge. He has to fight for her heart by risking everything.

25 years later Alex is in a German hospital with amnesia after a severe car crash, in which his parents were killed. Bai Dan goes off to Germany, where he teaches his grandson backgammon. The ancient game restores Alex back to life. Bai Dan gets Alex out of the hospital and they hit the road, wheeling a tandem bicycle. On this journey back to Bulgaria and to the past, Alex gets his memory back, and with it, the will to live again.

This is the story of an Azerbaijani family, the story of the relationship of two brothers, tragic in its insolvability, which ends up in the death of the protagonist. This is a story about the tragedy of a man, who never had the opportunity to understand his fellow creature for Jalil doted upon his younger brother Simurg and held him dearer than anybody else. This misunderstanding, or rather unwillingness to understand results in the destruction of a whole world, the very world, which Jalil has been building for years in accordance with his principles and the traditions of his ancestors.
