12-year-old Rado, son of the water polo coach Stoichev, is almost a punk now. Mr. Stoichev thinks he’s been a good father and he can’t understand why does his son want to run away from home with ‘just the next junkies he has met on the street’.

Somewhere at the end of the world, in a small village by the sea, several men and women driven away by civilization’s cruelty and vanity have found their temporary wharf. Here they meet love, jealousy, betrayal, devotion, and mainly human goodness. Here they ascertain their own personalities and systems of values, and make their choices. The screenplay is based on Anton Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya" but the story takes place here and now. The film inspires us to smile with a look of sympathy for those intellectuals around us.

In the beginning of summer six young people escape from their failures – in their families, love, money, ambitions, meetings with those that are different. They escape from the City, taken over by those that are different. Each one of them escapes East of Hell... to the point farthest away, the sea coast, a clean and pristine beach. The clean beach brings them together and reopens the prospective of hope to them all. But is such an escape at all possible?

In 1945 young medical doctor Rumenov, an assistant to Prof. Stanishev, who has been executed by the so-called Popular Court, is interned in Varna. There the young man meets an Armenian, Dikran, a photographer and the love of all the citizens, who helps him to rediscover what true friendship and joie de vivre are. Unfortunately, Dikran has an accident at sea and his condition is critical. Then a pretty girl turns up at the hospital insisting to marry him no matter what. Will love of a woman conquer death?
